Comme Ca Art at The Museum of Museums

This summer we are delighted to announce our inclusion in the Museum of Museums – A new cultural heritage centre opening at The Trafford Centre.

The MoM aims to establish a destination that gives all genres of collections the opportunity to exhibit to the general public. The Peel Group is launching the venue at the end of May.

As part of the Arts & Culture section of the Museum of Museums, Comme Ca Art will be hosting a specially designed three-room gallery, launching with solo exhibitions from three different artists.

In the central atrium Vincent James will be installing a number of his much loved sculptures. These 3-D pieces bring together objects from different cartoon worlds and create extraordinary and surreal assemblages. Objects originally glimpsed fleetingly in a few frames of a cartoon become frozen in time, locked in three-dimensional space to create absurd and whimsical sculptures.

And in Space 2 Susan Aggarwal will be showing works from her Dance With Life’ series. The works explore expressive abstract painting and the collection is a very personal representation of the artist’s very own experience of nature and beauty, and her artistic response to it. The colours within the work represent a varied range: from stormy dark brown and blue palettes that are reminiscent of seascapes to bright yellow and reds that evoke an exotic jungle setting.

Matt Davies will complete the inaugural shows by presenting a mix of works both old and new. Davies’ describes his painting as selfish, with a strong personal preferences and influences, and this is exactly what guides the stories in his works and what makes them so interesting to spend some time with.

Comme Ca Art to Showcase Local Artists Citywide, Summer 2008

Comme Ca is proud to introduce the Manchester ArtMap.  Throughout the Summer of 2008 Comme Ca Art will be installing artworks in various locations.  An ArtMap will be created so visitors and people of the city can take a tour of local art all over Manchester.

Visitors will be free to navigate the city as they wish, using the map as a reference point to visiting whatever they are near, whenever it suits their pace.  Featuring locations with unfettered visual access-such as coffee shops, store windows and office spaces-the artworks can be viewed conveniently by everyone at almost anytime.

ArtMap will be printed and will be featured on line on our web site so if you are anywhere with an internet connection you can access it.  Not only will you be able to access where the artworks are located but also more information about individual artists and the art scene in Manchester.  Any updates and new installations of artworks will be included so the online ArtMap will be your guide to the Art of Manchester.

Comme Ca is concerned with supporting the work of local artists and encouraging people to look at art as part of their everyday lives, showing that there is something that everyone can enjoy.

We aim to match all works of art appropriately to the place they are situated within so that the benefits of the artwork enhance their visual environment. We want to show that there really is a piece of art to suit every business and company environment.
